TO ALL DOG & PUPPY ENTHUSIASTS
What's Been Happening & Where Have I Been?
Check my New Photo Album: My New Baby ~ The Royal Hiney
Back On August 18th, 2008, We met and became each others.
The Lady let this little cutie pie out of her crate and she came right over to me, licked my chin and proceeded to curl up and rest her head on my shoulder.
It was pretty much an instantaneous connection.
I had been searching for two years for a small dog.
Finally, I met my match.
It was a no brainer.
She was exactly was imagining and am truly blessed.
The first six months of my dogs life were not too friendly.
The boyfriend of the girl who owned her told the girl that she had to get rid of the dog or he was going to drowned it!!
B*stard! I'da got rid of the bf, no problem!!
The next woman who took the dog, had no time for her, l
eaving her in daycares for weeks at a time
for the next 9 mnths.
When I got the dog, she was as sweet as ever but barely 4lbs.
It was said that the daycare told the woman that she wasn't eating, that she was afraid of her metal dishes.
When I took the dog home she was literally starving.
He hair was a mess and the last groomer she had obviously couldn't cut a straight line.
The dogs eyes were a mess also.
I was given a bag of Purina Puppy Chow with the dog.
I immediately threw that in the garbage
and started my puppy on rice, carrots and chicken breast.
She ate fine.
The day after we became each others,
we were off to the groomers we went for a bath and a trim.
Tthe dogs teeth were yellow. I mean Yellow. All of them.
No wonder she wouldn't eat her kibble.
He gums must of been soar.
We scaled most of her teeth.
It was shortly thereafter the dog started eating kibble again.
I took the dog to the vet for a once over.
She checked out fine besides needing to gain some weight.
I had her vet records transfered and found that
the dog was still needing her puppy three and rabies vac's.
Other than that her heart was strong and she had no fleas.
The vet commented on how well behaved she was.
After the Puppy Three Vac, we booked her spay.
Since she is only 5.8lbs and had a hernia at birth
which was operated on before I got her,
it was said any puppies would likely have hernias
also as well as because of her size,
a c section may be required.
I have been told that sometimes in dogs under 7lbs can die giving birth.
Besides all that, I could hardly stand wondering
how the homes were for my dogs babies
so I opted to spay her.
Plus she went into heat and well,
we just don't want to go through that again.
Conclusion: This dog is very smart.
She learns quickly and is full of love and playfulness.
She has been accepted well within the family,
including among the other pets.
She loves kids, dogs, parks, sunshine, sticks, vegetables and belly rubs are her favorite.
She can sit, stay, lay down, fetch, shake a paw, dance, come and I am working on having her put her toys away
at night before bedtime.
She is getting to know each toy by name.
The love of my life, the brightest light to date,
my new baby, she is my new side kick and alarm clock.
Roxy was born May 02, 2007.
She loves to have her picture taken,
has many cloths,
eats just fine out of her metal dishes,
loves her Royal Canin kibble and
is still eating carrots, rice and different sources of white meat and fish.
Her hair is growing and her eyes are completely clear.
Roxy uses advantage to control fleas
since playing with the other dogs and cats
she picked a few up.
Once she has learned the basics,
Roxy will be embarking on a Canine Modeling career.
Help pay off her Visa bills.
I love my little dog.
It is quite evident that she loves her new forever home too.
No more day care ever and we don't need to use a crate.
She wont even sleep in the bed that came with her.
For the first few months, Roxy had bad dreams.
Once night she was making suckling noises.
When I checked her, her tongue was out. I think she was dreaming of her momma.
This wasn't a nightmare dream though just odd.
Next Vet Check Up will be in two years.
Although I stop in regularly to weigh her, I don't plan on getting annual vaccines.
No dental work is needed again until 2010.
There is nothing more gratifying for me
when I tell my dog to do something and
she responds with enthusiasm,
pleased with herself
when she gets her well deserved nice praise.
Roxy's favorite treats, besides carrot sticks or romaine lettuce is Zuke's Peanut Butter treats.
Makes for a Happy Rambunctious little dog!
Hope that you have enjoyed her pictures.
Roxy looks completely Yorkie but is actually cross with Maltese and S**tz Tzu.
Thanks for stopping by.
